I certainly understand the importance of security, but I still don’t understand the point of the default configuration of IE on Windows Servers, which is so “secure” that it is completely unusable.
In years past I’ve spent a lot of time messing around with various security settings trying to get it to allow me to download a different browser, but it turns out there is a better way (or at least there is on newer servers):
1) Open Server Manager on the Server and select Local Server.
2) Click on IE Enhanced Security Configuration (in the upper right quadrant of the page):

3) Turn off enhanced security for administrators and users:
